There is a chapter in Part III in Sicilian Loves that has recipes for dogs with diabetes.
Scout, whose personality was like Scout’s in “To Kill a Mockingbird, was our very first dog, our heart dog, who developed diabetes and needed a special diet. Diane reached and researched, even call a vet at a Hospital, until she was satisfied with her findings. Her knowledge prompted a site for dogs with Diabetes to ask her if she would be a MODERATOR? The recipe are her creations.
Willy Bear, a rescue dog, joined Scout as a family member. We had to change his name from “Gribble” to any other name. (Wouldn’t you?) He lost an eye while in a rescue facility in Milwaukee but that didn’t stop him from being a joyful family member. Unfortunately he had health issues that couldn’t be corrected.
Scout crossed the Rainbow bridge because of age, and then just ten months lAfter Scout crossed, Willy Bear crossed over, too. Devastated, we decide another dog was not in our future.
BUT then Mazi enters the picture – and “oowee” did we change our minds. Mazi is a female who lived in Antigo and through the grapevine we heard that she needed a new home. Now Mazi joins the ranks of Sicilian Loves.
Bernie and Ginger belong to Misty & John So, Mazi comes into our family and immediately had two cousins. The “love ranks” keep growing.
